Richard McVeigh (freelance organist) operates Beauty in Sound, a YouTube channel focusing on the organ. While the bulk of BiS’s output focuses mainly on recitals recorded on the impressive Hauptwerk Organ situated in his living room, a regular fixture of the channel has become features recorded live on cathedral instruments. These sessions usually involve two days of recording and include a live demonstration of the instrument and a recital given by the resident organists, and an episode of ‘Virtual Church’, a programme of hymns, organ music and prayers that airs live every Sunday.
During half term Richard is coming to Llandaff Cathedral to record the organ with himself, Aaron Shilson and Stephen Moore playing hymns, a recital and demonstration of the organ. Richard will combine sound and footage of the organ playing with aerial footage taken from the inside of the building.
Richard will make three different videos from the footage taken and they will be released on The Beauty in Sound youtube channel on 18th March .
Before starting BEAUTY IN SOUND, Richard McVeigh worked as full-time organist at the Cathedrals of Sheffield, Chester, York and Winchester giving concerts around the UK as well around Europe. He is an Assistant Organist at Arundel Cathedral and Assistant Director of Music at Romsey Abbey.
